THE National Curriculum is seriously prejudiced against dyslexic children

NATIONAL CURRICULUM

The National Curriculum is a collection of facts to be remembered by school children for the purpose of the League Table competition.

This is in total conflict with the quote by Albert Einstein who said, "Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think"

STATE EDUCATION can seriously damage the minds of dyslexic people, especially children who are forced to read at an age too early in their lives.

The age at which children can read properly can vary by many years. Some people can never read properly.

The reading process is probably the most complex function of the mind. Some people find it easy, others don't.

People with photographic memories can remember the words without fully understanding the meaning. Dyslexic people need to translate the words into pictures in order to remember. This inevitably takes time so the mind quickly becomes overloaded.

The NATIONAL CURRICULUM is constantly being reinforced at government level using the LEAGUE TABLES to force schools to comply.

The end result is a CLIQUE of ACADEMICALLY ELITE PEOPLE with their heads crammed full of KNOWLEDGE with little room for INTELLIGENCE.

The people who pass exams easily get the academic qualifications and get all the top jobs.

They are the people who make all the rules and could not care a fig about dyslexic people who have the wrong type of memory for passing their exams.

The person with the best understanding of education methodology was Sir Kenneth Robinson.

While Sir Ken did not address the dyslexic question, his talks at the TED meetings were epic. They are well worth watching by googling "Sir Ken TED talks".

His early title "do schools kill creativity" has over 75 million views and is a must.

His masterly way of presenting, injects humour into an otherwise dry subject.

His story of the young girl in a drawing lesson is particularly memorable.

The teacher walked over to the girl and asked what she was drawing.

The girl said, "I'm drawing a picture of God".

The teacher said, "But nobody knows what God looks like".

"They will in a minute", said the girl.

All kids have tremendous talents and we squander them.

Creativity is as important as literacy and we should treat it with the same status.

Sadly, the curriculum system educates people out of their creative capacities by stigmatising mistakes.

“The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” – Albert Einstein

If you are not prepared to make a mistake you will never come up with anything new.

On the other hand, it is this CLIQUE of people who are most prone to suffer DEMENTIA in later life with their heads full of knowledge instead of intelligence.

This is why DEMENTIA is such a "high-profile" condition because it mainly affects "high-profile" people.
