COMPUTERS
COMPUTERS
Computer PROGRAMMERS will inevitable be from the CLIQUE of ACADEMIC ACHIEVERS, so there will be little regard for dyslexic users.

The GOOGLE search facility is entirely limited to WORDS instead of PICTURES.

I put just the word MERCURY into google and got "About 2,300,000,000 results (0.75 seconds)". Taking 30 seconds each to consider it's relevance (i.e. read the article and so paint a picture), would take several thousand years.

There is currently talk of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI). Some "experts" predict a future with micro chips implanted in the brain to replace the recipient's MIND. This WILL NEVER HAPPEN. We will not even get close, because such a device will be programmed using WORDS and not PICTURES. I believe the people who talk about AI have no idea what they are talking about.

Hence Nickola Tesla's quote ..... "Today’s scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality.”

Social media has shaken our culture to the core. There are no "anchor" newscasters any more so there is nobody to trust.

Our lives are lived at the mercy of computers. Businesses have to fall in line otherwise they become uncompetitive. Alas, little attention is paid to the difficulties experienced by dyslexic people. Programmers are paranoid about PASSWORDS and create a barrier which a lot of people never get through. The opportunities for fraud are rampant.

Pressing all the buttons until you get what you want is OK, as long as you REMEMBER which were the buttons that got you there. A dyslexic will not remember.

The result is often loss of confidence in the use of the computer route. Happily, most important businesses provide an alternative contact telephone number. All too many seem to discourage this route with the telephone queues getting longer.

MICROSOFT built its empire on FAMILIARITY. The occasion they issued a new version which made significant changes to the operation was met with such horror, they had to back-peddle to the previous one very quickly.

I have used MICROSOFT eight hours a day in the office since the year 1990 and consider myself an expert with all the OFFICE applications. However, every time my local printer went down I had to get the secretary to come and show me how to switch to another printer somewhere else. I don't think the secretary could believe that I was unable to do it myself.

MICROSOFT have plans to develop a super-educational capability, as there sponsorship of the dyslexia website "MADE BY DYSLEXIA" would indicate. It is essential that the management of this facility is NOT in the hands of NON-DYSLEXIC people.

Most State sponsored dyslexia organisations are regrettably managed by NON-DYSLEXIC people because they are "qualified" to be managers and are the obvious choices. Unfortunately, they inevitably will have a blinkered mission to educate children to fit into the mould of the CORRICULUM based system which regards dyslexics as having "LEARNING DIFFICULTIES" This is the way it has always been and will not change while Government insist on it all being driven by the LEAGUE TABLES.

I find it hard to believe that MICROSOFT will not fall into the same trap.
